Happy 70th Birthday to
"the best school in our town"
Bryker Woods Elementary is a Texas Education Agency 'Exemplary' school and has a long and rich tradition of excellence since the school opened its doors to Kindergarten through sixth grade children in 1939. The school was eventually enlarged with the addition of classrooms and a small gym, and was once again remodeled in 1986 adding office space, a driveway in the front of the school, and additional parking.
Bryker Woods Elementary School offers high quality education in a diverse and nurturing learning environment for its students. Our school continues to serve grades Kindergarten through six. Students who reside in the Bryker Woods attendance zone often track to O.Henry Middle School and then to Austin High School. Bryker Woods Elementary School is one of the few AISD elementary schools that still offers a 6th grade program (most elementary schools end at the 5th grade). Students attending Bryker Woods Elementary live in all parts of the city—approximately 39% attend on a transfer basis, making it a real 'school of choice'!
